John became involved in Property Management when he joined Edward Erdman, Leeds in 1990 as Client Operations Manager, following 15 years in International Banking.

19 years later and having worked as a Managing Agent, Landlord (British Land) for two multiple retailers (NEXT for 8 years and TK Maxx for 1 year) John is now a Consultant working for his own consultancy in the Service Charge field.

He has chaired the PMA Shopping Centre Group for 8 years and also sits on various industry committees within the BCSC, plus the working party that produced, and continues to develop the RICS Code of Practice – Service Charges in Commercial Property.

Given his experiences, on many sides of the industry, he always brings an appreciation of the fuller picture to the table in discussions.

He is currently appointed by several National Multiple Retailers on various levels of involvement from all inclusive full management, to basic health checks where lease terms are cross referenced to service charge accounts to ensure compliance.

Advice on service charge lease terms when taking a new lease, or renewing, is an additional service that John can offer.

He has also undertaken verification work for a number of major landlords where they have been establishing a new scheme, amending the apportionment model, or merely wishing to verify the status of impending major works as to their recoverability.
